River House Rooms

Situated only metres from the water's edge, the River House offers the premium choice of rooms at The Douglas. Boasting spectacular water views, and bright, airy communal living spaces your wind-down starts here.

The River House comprises three individual rooms, all with a queen size timber sleigh bed, shower ensuite, quality linen, sitting area, LCD TV and DVD player. Rooms can be booked individually, or for small groups the entire wing can be booked exclusively.  

Each of the bedrooms opens out onto uninterrupted river views, with enclosed glass balcony.

The large, light-filled lounge area offers shared space for River House guests, with spectacular views over our gardens and the river. During the winter months you can while the day away with complimentary coffee or herbal tea, or choose from Shane's great selection of local and international wines. These rooms also offer the flexibility of self-catering in the large, fully-equipped open-plan kitchen. (Laundry facilities included).

Our Breakfast


Our tasty basket of home-made and locally-produced breakfast goodies will set you up for the day. 

Basket includes: Irrewarra sourdough bread, house-poached Middle Eastern fruits, Shaw River buffalo yoghurt, cereal and homemade muesli, local orange juice, Genovese coffee, local milk and all natural conserves (found on a recent jaunt to Tasmania!).
